This story is one that is local to me. Miranda’s Rescue is down the street from my home. The owner and operator of this rescue, a man by the name of Shannon Miranda, has been running an operation where he takes in dogs for exorbitant fees, giving people peace of mind that their animals will find a good home and have a safe place to thrive until they do, when the reality is that many animals were killed as soon as they couldn’t be quickly adopted, just so Mr Miranda could free up space to take in more animals and more money. During a massive raid including the sheriff’s office, the FBI, and several other organizations, the bodies of 117 dogs were recovered from just a small area on the property. In the last year, over 900 dogs were brought in, a little over 100 were adopted out, and over 700 are currently unaccounted for. When this is all said and done with, a lot of animals in our area are going to need help, and the reputable no kill shelter up here, Sequoia Humane Society, will likely be overburdened.
